Arsenal’s ‘inspirational’ £34m star now holds the key in landing Andrea Berta’s dream striker transfer target

Arsenal’s much anticipated forward acquisition continues to evade the club.

Andrea Berta is becoming frustrated with RB Leipzig over negotiations for Benjamin Sesko as the two parties continue to hit stumbling blocks.

Berta admires Viktor Gyokeres and despite Mikel Arteta’s preference for Sesko, the Gunners could turn their attentions to the Sporting Lisbon man.

The Arsenal manager wants his forward ready for the club’s pre-season tour on July 19. A forgotten £34m star within Arsenal’s squad could hold the key to that becoming a reality.

Fabio Vieira could be key in Arsenal move for Viktor Gyokeres

According to reports in Portugal, Gunners midfielder Fabio Vieira could be used as part of a deal to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Vieira spent last season at Sporting’s rivals Porto and made his name in the Portuguese league before joining Arsenal in 2022 for £34m.

The Portuguese media praised Vieira for his performances towards the end of the campaign, with one outlet describing him as ‘inspirational’ during Porto’s 2-1 win over Boavista.

Porto do not want to keep Vieira due to the size of the financial package involved with the 25-year-old but the Gunners could now use him as part of the deal to sign Gyokeres.

Arsenal must find a solution for Fabio Vieira’s future

Arsenal have struggled to sell players in the past and whilst Vieira still has two years on his contract left, they can afford to take their time over the player’s future.

Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract termination was due to the player’s fitness struggles, Vieira is ready to go and would attract interest given a good pre-season.

If he cannot be used in a deal for Gyokeres, there are other options for Arsenal. Crystal Palace may be interested as part of a deal for Eberechi Eze or even a Premier League loan move would be beneficial for the player.

Protecting Vieira’s value is key for Arsenal this summer, there is a good player there. He just needs the right platform to showcase his ability.
