Andrea Berta is now ready to do something that could really annoy Arsenal fans during pre-season

Andrea Berta is working his magic at Arsenal.

The Italian replaced Edu Gaspar as the Gunners’ Sporting Director at the end of March, and he has been really busy since.

Deals have been agreed for Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard to come in, while the contracts of Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly have been extended.

That deserves a lot of praise, but Berta will be judged by just one thing this summer – a new striker.

However, the new Arsenal transfer chief could be about to annoy many fans with what he has now decided to do.

Andrea Berta is ‘ready’ to delay Arsenal striker signing

Arsenal fans have all been dreaming of a new striker since the transfer window opened.

The Gunners have been without a prolific goalscorer for years now — Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the last reliable forward they had.

Many fans feel that is the reason why Arsenal have not won the Premier League title over the last three years, and that has to change now.

Arsenal have been in talks to sign one of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko for a few weeks now, but neither deal is close to completion.

Now, a new update from Football London shares more frustrating news.

The report reveals that Arsenal are now prepared to go into their pre-season without a new striker, even though it is their aim to get one in by then.

The Gunners have decided that they will not ‘panic buy’ and are ready to wait to get the ‘best deal in order to help give them manoeuvrability for other transfers’.

Arsenal are playing a risky game and it could backfire

Arsenal are not wrong to wait for the ‘best deal’ as they look to sign a striker, but this move could seriously backfire.

The Gunners have a really tough start to the new season. They face Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle all in their first six games.

If Arsenal don’t get their new striker in time for their pre-season tour, that player will need time to adapt to the Premier League in the first few fixtures.

The North Londoners cannot afford such a risk when the schedule is so difficult.

We think Berta should just go all out for a new striker before Arsenal fly out to Asia on the 19th of July for their games against AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham.
