Tottenham now want to sign ‘unplayable’ Arsenal target, it’s up to Andrea Berta to move quickly

Arsenal remain in the market for one final addition, as Andrea Berta looks to give Mikel Arteta the best possible squad to compete for the Premier League title with.

The Gunners have moved quickly and decisively this summer to address key areas of concern.

Viktor Gyokeres has been bought from Sporting CP for £63 million to lead the line, while Noni Madueke has been acquired from Chelsea to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.

Martin Zubimendi has arrived from Real Sociedad to replace Thomas Partey, while the likes of Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cristhian Mosquera have been brought in to add depth.

That said, Arsenal still feel the left-hand side of their attack could be strengthened and are prepared to make a move if they can sell one of Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli.

Tottenham could now make move for Arsenal target Eberechi Eze

Eberechi Eze has emerged as Arsenal’s primary target, with the Gunners viewing the Crystal Palace man as someone who can operate on the left wing or as a number ten.

Eze has been described as ‘unplayable’, and some of his exceptional technical qualities would certainly be useful to Mikel Arteta’s team.

However, the England international’s £68 million release clause has now expired, and Palace are seemingly not willing to negotiate for a fee much lower than this.

The deal could become even more difficult to pull off now, as the Gunners could be set to face fierce competition for his signature.

After James Maddison suffered a serious injury in pre-season that will keep him out of action for several months, talkSPORT suggest Tottenham could now make a move for Eze.

Spurs had started focusing their efforts on Eze earlier this summer after it became clear Bryan Mbeumo would be joining Manchester United.

However, after Arsenal’s interest became known in the public domain, the Lilywhites stopped their pursuit of the 27-year-old, feeling the Gunners’ interest would scupper their hopes of landing him.

That said, with Arsenal yet to launch a bid for Eze, and Spurs in need, Thomas Frank’s outfit could now come back to the table on this front.

Andrea Berta has to move quickly on Eberechi Eze

Reports suggest Eze wants to sign for Arsenal, and that the Gunners would have no difficulty attracting the player to N5.

Supposedly a boyhood fan of the Gunners, if it’s a question of the Emirates or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it shouldn’t be a difficult choice.

However, if Arsenal never make a concerted effort to sign the player, and Spurs do, then he may ultimately end up accepting an offer from the Gunners’ bitter rivals.

While Berta is waiting for Trossard or Martinelli to depart before making his move, he may need to accelerate talks for Eze instead, to avoid allowing Tottenham’s interest to impact negotiations.

Acquiring Eze may also prompt one of Trossard or Martinelli’s agents to start looking more aggressively for a move, and could prompt potential suitors to come in for one of them.
