Arsenal are still in the market for new signings this summer.
Andrea Berta has exceeded all expectations since becoming the Gunners’ new sporting director in March by signing six new players already.
Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi are the two huge names who have come in, but Arsenal fans are dreaming of one more signing.
But owners Stan and Josh Kroenke could now stop the Gunners from making that move.
Why Arsenal are hesitant about signing Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid
Rodrygo has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.
The Brazil international is one of the best players in the world, but he seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid.
Xabi Alonso started Rodrygo just once in the Club World Cup, and that could be the reason why he will be on the move in this window.
Arsenal and Mikel Arteta really like Rodrygo, but Sami Mokbel of the BBC has claimed that the decision-makers at the club are hesitant to go all out for him because of the finances involved.
He said on the Latte Firm: “In terms of Rodrygo, the interest is absolutely genuine. He would be the – I know you signed Gyokeres – but he would be the superstar signing. He would be the cherry on the cake, right?
“The interest is absolutely there and is authentic. But what will sort of be the stumbling blocks towards that is it will be the cost again. It will be the sort of the wages which I think would be, from what I understand, you’re looking upwards of £250,000 a week, if not more.
“So it’s big money from my understanding, and I think that the powers that be at Arsenal have crunched those numbers and, probably rightly so, been a bit more hesitant towards going hell for leather for him.
“But that’s not to say that they’re not interested, because they are. They do like him as a player, and they have explored the conditions of that deal. I just think it may be a bit cash-rich when you factor in the wages, and if it is a permanent transfer.”

Can Arsenal sign Rodrygo on loan?
Arsenal have had success in the past when they’ve loaned in a player from Real Madrid.
Martin Odegaard initially joined the Gunners for just six months, but his move was then made permanent, and he has since become the captain of the club.
Reports have claimed that Arsenal are waiting to see if they can sign Rodrygo on loan in this window, but Mokbel isn’t sure if the player will be open to that kind of move.
He said: “Now, if it is a loan, it would have to be a loan with some sort of obligation because I don’t see Arsenal (doing that).
“Arsenal have been down that route before with (Dani) Ceballos and signing players and then them not staying, and it’s just a stopgap. But Arsenal aren’t a stopgap club. You’re constantly building.
“And, is Rodrygo going to want to leave Real Madrid on a loan? I’m not sure if he will. It’s definitely not a no, but I do think there are some big obstacles to overcome, certainly financially, to get that deal over the line.”
