Long-term Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko looks likely to sign for Manchester United before the transfer window closes.
The Slovenian striker is very highly valued by RB Leipzig and his agent, which paved the way for Viktor Gyokeres to sign for Arsenal.
Arsenal chose Gyokeres due to his experience over Sesko, seeing the Swede as the option who was more likely to hit the ground running.
Though Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Sesko, the 22-year-old is now out of reach, and the Arsenal manager will be desperate not to be haunted by his transfer decision on the opening day of the season.

Fabrizio Romano comments on Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal
Sesko is in line to sign for Manchester United, who look in a stronger position to win the race for the Slovenian’s signature against Newcastle United.
Though Ruben Amorim’s side are set to be bolstered with a high-profile striker, those at Arsenal won’t have too many doubts over whether they made the right call.
On The Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano commented on the extent of Arsenal’s interest in Sesko.
“I can guarantee about that. Even when we had the situation about Arsenal, Sesko was keen on joining Arsenal, but he never agreed personal terms. So that’s an important point.”
Despite the player being eager to join Arteta’s project, personal terms were not able to be struck, which might have had something to do with the player’s agent.
Sesko’s agent stunned Arsenal by presenting the player as a Messi-like calibre signing, which left members of the club’s hierarchy with their jaw on the floor.
Such made the decision to sign Gyokeres far easier, as the player was ready and waiting to sign for the North London club.

Sesko vs Viktor Gyokeres on the opening day
Things have taken a wild turn for Sesko, who thought he was joining Arsenal this summer.
The 22-year-old is set to be on his way to the Premier League, but with Man United instead.
There’s set to be an ironic scene on the opening day at Old Trafford, as Sesko, the player who was reported to be Arsenal’s top target, could line up against the Gunners.
To make matters all the more ironic, United’s top target, Gyokeres, will line up for Arsenal against the Red Devils.
The transfer window is unpredictable, particularly in the Premier League, with the North Londoners hoping Sesko doesn’t haunt them.
