Mikel Arteta’s squad is expected to change once again before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Arsenal fans are in awe of Andrea Berta, who has welcomed seven quality signings to North London.
Supporters could only dream of a time when Arsenal would conduct themselves proactively in the window, with Berta spending £270m to strengthen the squad so far.
After making Eberechi Eze’s dream come true, Arsenal’s sporting director could stun everyone and deliver another shock high-calibre signing.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Piero Hincapie wants to sign for Arsenal
Arsenal want to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen to bolster their defensive options amid signs that Jakub Kiwior will leave this summer.
Hincapie certainly fits the profile Arteta wants in his back four at Arsenal, with negotiation underway between the Gunners and Leverkusen.
Fabrizio Romano has given his verdict on the possible transfer, taking to his YouTube channel to share the current status of the deal.
“Negotiations are on the way on personal terms; they are talking about the contract, it’s not an issue, I can guarantee that because Hincapie is very keen on a move to Arsenal,” Romano said.
“Now, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen are in official contact, club-to-club approach, waiting to see the first bid, which is also based on Kiwior to Porto and the future of Oleksandr Zinchenko.”
Arsenal are aware that Hincapie wants to make the move to the Emirates, which makes personal terms easy to achieve.
Another plus is that reports in Germany suggest that Arsenal could sign Hincapie on an initial loan with a £52m obligation to buy, which would help Berta to balance the books.
How Arsenal’s defensive options could look at the end of the transfer window
As Romano made clear, the deal could be based on whether Arsenal can shift Kiwior, who is wanted by FC Porto.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is another figure likely to exit before the window closes, which tidies Arsenal’s defensive options.
| Player | Position |
| Jurrien Timber | RB/LB/CB |
| Myles Lewis-Skelly | LB |
| Riccardo Calafiori | LB/CB |
| Ben White | RB/CB |
| William Saliba | CB |
| Gabriel Magalhaes | CB |
| Cristhian Mosquera | CB/RB |
| ? Piero Hincapie | CB/LB |
When looking at Arsenal’s defensive depth, excluding Zinchenko and Kiwior, the results are quite staggering, as Berta has handed Arteta options of the highest quality to rotate.
It’s a situation the Spaniard has been dreaming of for some time in N5, with depth in quality seen in all areas of the Arsenal squad.
