Arsenal have found their Jakub Kiwior replacement as Fabrizio Romano reveals new transfer target

Arsenal may well have found their replacement for Jakub Kiwior, as a new centre-back option has appeared on their radar.

The Gunners have been on the lookout in the market for potential opportunities, coming in the shape of both signings and sales.

So far, Andrea Berta has worked extremely hard on the former, completing six transfers into the club to help the team compete again this coming season.

It means that attention turns towards potential bargains for Arsenal on the market, as well as exits within the wider squad.

One of those linked with a move away from the club is Jakub Kiwior, who faces something of an uncertain future.

A transfer away could be sanctioned, especially as links emerge surrounding a potential replacement that could be on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Arsenal interest in Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes

As Kiwior continues to be linked with a transfer exit this summer, Arsenal are already looking at potential replacements.

There were some suggestions that Cristhian Mosquera would be the long-term option, having signed from Valencia this summer.

However, the pair of defenders play on opposite sides of each other, with Mosquera likely viewed as more of a replacement for Takehiro Tomiyasu, following his exit by mutual termination of his contract.

With that in mind, if Kiwior does leave, it seems as though Arsenal are keeping tabs on another possible defensive addition.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have made contact over a move for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough into the senior side over the past season, featuring heavily at the back end of the campaign.

The French youth international signed a new contract extension with Rennes back in May, committing his future at the club until 2029.

With Jacquet certainly viewed as an option for the future, it could all depend on the future of Kiwior and whether he stays or leaves this month.

Jakub Kiwior transfer success could be repeated with Jeremy Jacquet move

While Kiwior’s future is uncertain, it’s fair to say that his move to Arsenal has been a success for all parties involved.

The defender has raised his profile and improved in several key areas, which were present in his performances at the end of last season.

For Arsenal, not only have they managed to make use of the Polish international at key moments, but they look likely to land a profit if he does move on.

It’s more proof of what the Gunners need to do in the market moving forward, landing these young prospects at a cut-price, developing them and then moving them on.

If Berta is to improve Arsenal’s buying power, then he needs to improve their selling power too.

Landing someone to develop and moving them on is the exact blueprint that has worked with Kiwior and could work again with someone like Jacquet moving forward.
