Arsenal are now expected to make an official bid for ‘unplayable’ star before deadline day

Arsenal are still in the market to add further signings to their squad this summer.

Andrea Berta has been busy in his first transfer window as the club’s sporting director and has already brought six new signings through the door, most notably Viktor Gyokeres in a £63m deal.

The Gunners have also secured new contracts for the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Gabriel Magalhaes, whilst Ethan Nwaneri has also agreed a new deal.

Player sales are now the focus for Berta in order to raise funds for another attacking signing before the window closes. It has now been revealed who Arsenal are ‘anticipated’ to bid for before the September deadline.

Arsenal expected to bid for Eberechi Eze before deadline day

Arsenal view Eberechi Eze as a ‘game-changer’ and are desperate to land the England international this summer to add some much-needed creativity to their front line.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the Gunners are expected to make a bid for Eze before the September 1st transfer deadline.

Crook stated: “When it comes to Eze, I think the anticipation is that Arsenal will bid at some point between now and they close the window.

“So that is an unwanted headache for Palace. It’s a little bit quiet on Guehi at this stage, but I know Liverpool are still keen to sign a central defender.

“So don’t completely rule out losing both those star players between now and September 1st. If that does happen.”

Mikel Arteta’s side lacked a real cutting edge in the recent pre-season friendly defeat to Spurs and creating chances was a problem they faced last campaign.

Signing Eze would be good news for Gyokeres as the Crystal Palace star has proven time and time again that he has the ability to make things happen out of nothing.

Gyokeres will thrive in North London but only if he is given the right service. Eze has been described as ‘unplayable’ and can provide that service with his ability to open teams up with a pass or a trick.

Arsenal cannot delay Eberechi Eze bid for too long

Whilst player sales are clearly key to a move for Eze, the Gunners cannot delay their bid for the England star for too long.

An injury to James Maddison sustained in pre-season means that Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in Eze.

Whilst the player’s preference is to join Arsenal, the longer Berta leaves making his move, the more Eze may start to lean towards getting his future sorted elsewhere.

Arsenal made a mistake with Joan Garcia in not meeting his release clause last summer and then ultimately lost out on the goalkeeper this summer to Barcelona.

Berta has been decisive and efficient so far in this transfer window but that needs to continue in the pursuit of Eze to really crown the summer business.
