Andrea Berta is in ‘constant contact’ with £68m target who would snub Tottenham for Arsenal

Though focus is on sales, Arsenal have made it abundantly clear who they want their next signing to be.

Andrea Berta has already welcomed six new players to the Arsenal squad this summer, and the sporting director’s work is not done.

With the defence, midfield and goalkeeping options bolstered, attention will surely return to the attack.

One target Arsenal are eyeing is Eberechi Eze, who could leave Crystal Palace this summer at the price of his £68m release clause.

Arsenal are in contact with Eberechi Eze

Many think Eze could win Arsenal the Premier League, with fans drooling at the idea of having the England international in Mikel Arteta’s attack.

There has been a spanner thrown into the works recently, as Tottenham are showing an interest in Eze following James Maddison’s ACL injury.

With Arsenal’s interest in Eze well documented throughout the summer, fans certainly won’t want to see the playmaker sign for Spurs, particularly as the Gunners’ presence in the market has gone quiet.

Fortunately, journalist Ed Aarons shared a welcome update on Berta’s stance on signing the 27-year-old.

Aarons took to X to confirm Spurs’ interest but revealed his understanding that Arsenal remain ‘very keen’ to recruit the Palace superstar.

The Gunners are believed to be in ‘constant contact’ with Eze’s representatives, but maintain that they wish to offload players before committing to an opening bid.

There is also a boost in Arsenal’s pursuit of Eze in that Palace were demoted to the Europa Conference League, confirming that the Eagles will not play in the Europa League this season.

Eze would snub Tottenham for Arsenal

Another boost, taking Spurs’ interest into consideration, is the creator’s desire to play for Arsenal.

Eze has his heart set on signing for Arsenal, being a boyhood fan of the club, whom he was released by during his academy days.

The ball appears to be in Berta’s court, but that doesn’t necessarily put the Gunners in an advantageous position, as there are sales to sanction and no guarantee when Spurs could table an offer.

Fans would be heartbroken to see Eze join Tottenham, giving Arsenal an even greater incentive to lure the Palace ace to the Emirates.
