Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes remains a target for Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners have been brilliant in the transfer market so far. Andrea Berta has delivered six new signings already, and that has made Arsenal so much stronger.
Most of the problems Mikel Arteta had with his squad have been solved now, but there is still one big hole that needs to be filled.
Arsenal need a better left winger this summer, and there are very few players available on the market who are superior to Rodrygo of Real Madrid.
Arsenal target Rodrygo’s price tag has dropped
Rodrygo, on his day, is one of the best attackers in the world.
The Brazil international has produced a number of magical moments for Real Madrid over the years, and he has been a key player for them.
However, since Xabi Alonso’s arrival, Rodrygo hasn’t quite had the game time that he would’ve liked, and that has increased the speculation surrounding his future.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Rodrygo, but suggestions that he would cost €90 million in transfer fees complicated things.
However, Ben Jacobs has now claimed that Real Madrid could let their versatile forward leave for a lot less than that figure.
He said on Last Word On Spurs: “Some people at Real hint this €90 million (£78.5m) number is not actually as rigid as was first implied at the beginning of the window, and maybe somewhere closer to €70 million (£61.1m) might even get him out the door.
“That’s actually an excellent bit of business, I think, and offsets some of the cost affiliated to the player wage and the agent fees. So let’s kind of wait and see how it develops.”
Arsenal should go all out for Rodrygo at that price
Rodrygo would be a superstar-level signing, something Arsenal have not made since Alexis Sanchez over a decade ago.
The Brazil international can win games on his own, and the fact that he can play anywhere across the front three makes him a great option to have.
£78.5 million is definitely a lot of money, especially when you consider salary and agent fees, but things will be totally different if his transfer fee drops to just over £60 million.
At that price, Arsenal should go all out to sign Rodrygo. The Gunners are financially capable of signing Alexander Isak for a British-record fee, so around £60 million for the Real Madrid number 11 would be no problem whatsoever.
However, for this move to go through, Rodrygo must decide to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
