David Ornstein says Arsenal are closing in on another ‘fantastic’ signing with medical imminent

Arsenal have struck a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Piero Hincapie, according to David Ornstein.

The Gunners have had a busy summer on the transfer front, signing a host of top players, and another one is now set to make his way to N5.

Hincapie recently agreed personal terms with Arsenal and talks have been going on between the Gunners and Bayer Leverkusen over the structure of a deal.

Now, David Ornstein has confirmed the big development, including how much Arsenal are set to pay and when Hincapie is expected to travel for his medical.

Arsenal strike £45m deal over Piero Hincapie as weekend medical planned

On Friday night, Ornstein reported that Arsenal have indeed reached agreement with Leverkusen for Piero Hincapie.

The Gunners will be signing the “fantastic” Hincapie on a season-long loan including an obligation to buy for a total package of €52million (£45million).

Hincapie is set to sign a five-year contract which will run until the summer of 2030, and a 10 per cent sell-on clause has been included in the deal, added Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist added that Hincapie is expected to travel from Germany to London this weekend to undergo a medical and complete his switch to N5.

Arsenal have completed the signings of Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Christian Norgaard so far this summer.

What this means for Jakub Kiwior

Late on in the transfer windows, various deals hinge on one another, and dominoes must fall for them all to take place.

Arsenal’s deal for Hincapie has now paved the way for Jakub Kiwior to complete his move to Porto and bring an end to his two-and-a-half-year spell at the Emirates.

Ornstein reported that the Kiwior to Porto deal will fetch Arsenal a guaranteed €25million (£21.6million) with €2million (£1.7million) in add-ons.
