Liverpool have entered talks to sign Alexander Isak, just as Arsenal have started closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
The two Swedish forwards, along with Erling Haaland, are the best strikers on the planet today, and most clubs would love to sign them.
Haaland isn’t going anywhere, while Arsenal are sorting out final complications to land Gyokeres, even though their dream signing not too long ago was Isak.
Now, Liverpool are pushing to sign the Newcastle United star.
Jamie O’Hara explains why he thinks Arsenal are not rivalling Liverpool for Alexander Isak
Arsenal were really keen to sign Alexander Isak.
The Swede has been a target for the Gunners for several years now. They initially wanted to sign him from Real Sociedad, but a move did not materialise then.
Arsenal have had a look at Isak since he joined Newcastle as well, but they felt that a move would be impossible in this window.
That is why they shifted their focus to Gyokeres, who is expected to become a new Arsenal player in the coming days.
Jamie O’Hara has now had his say on the situation, and he feels that Isak is not an option for Arsenal because the Gunners feel he will snub them for Liverpool.
Reacting to Arsenal fans saying ‘why are we not going for Isak’, O’Hara said: “Because Liverpool are going for Isak, so there’s only one place he’s going.
“Because they aren’t going to get him. Because if they do agree a fee, Liverpool are going to match it, and there’s only one place Isak is going and that’s Liverpool.
“If Isak was available, I just don’t think they would get him ahead of a club like Liverpool, so I don’t think they have bothered.”
Arsenal fans should be happy with Viktor Gyokeres
Isak would’ve been a phenomenal signing for Arsenal.
The Swede is a terrific player, has all the attributes you would want in a striker, and he has Premier League experience as well. He would’ve been perfect.
However, signing his compatriot Viktor Gyokeres for less than half the price is a great deal as well, and there is no reason why the Sporting star can’t deliver in the famous red and white.
Isak would’ve been great, but Arsenal fans should not be too upset about the Gunners signing Gyokeres instead.
