Arsenal fans have reacted to reports claiming that Bayern Munich are interested in Gabriel Martinelli.
Martinelli has been warned that he needs to step up if he is to keep his place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.
The bar is high for the left-winger, and rightly so, as the 24-year-old showed just how dangerous he can be during the 2022/23 campaign.
That season, the Brazilian racked up 21 goal contributions in the Premier League, but over the previous two campaigns, he’s recorded a combined total of 22.
Arsenal risk Martinelli’s value dropping by keeping the faith without seeing significant reward, which makes transfer links to Rodrygo all the more interesting.
Bayern Munich are now said to be eyeing Martinelli, and despite the winger’s lapse in form, Arsenal fans are divided in their opinion on cashing in.

Arsenal fans react to Gabriel Martinelli to Bayern Munich transfer rumour
On social media, reaction to the transfer speculation came pouring in from Arsenal supporters.
One fan took to X to say ‘Nooooooooo’ in reaction to the report.
Another said ‘Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss’ which paints the picture of how divided opinion is.
So, why do Arsenal fans not want to sell Martinelli?
“We need more players with Martinelli’s attributes this summer. Renewing Trossard, who’s 31 in December, and selling Martinelli is just dumb,” one supporter said.
“Noo, we can’t lose Martinelli,” one agreed.
The Gunners were then warned that letting the Brazilian leave this early in his career could come back to haunt the club.
“I’ll say it again, Martinelli should not be sold if he’s not pushing. He isn’t there yet but he might just be a late bloomer. Especially when today’s winger market is mostly underwhelming. We should go ahead and bring in a new LW & as well keep him. He’s a big plus to us.”
Such was echoed by another supporter, who made the point that Arsenal already need to bolster the position, thus letting Martinelli go would only pile on the pressure.
“Personally I see no sense in letting Martinelli go. Arsenal already need a left winger so it creates even more work needing two. Trossard also being 30 makes more sense to move on over Gabi who’s only 24.”
That being said, the fan then quoted a possible price that Martinelli could be sold for.
“Even if we did sell you’d expect around £80m given Jarell Quansah has just gone for £35m in this market.”
Such leads us into why some fans want to see the back of Martinelli amid Bayern Munich’s reported interest.
“If they offer 80 we can cash in and go get Leao asap.”
Another fan mentioned the £80m dream asking price, “80m and they can have him.”
Supporters then backed up their reasons for wanting the club to cash in on the 24-year-old.
“We need a LW as a level raiser, not because of a shortage of LWs. So we wouldn’t need to go and buy 2, we’d just need a Rodrygo level LW. Can’t hoard players forever, and if you bring in a Rodrygo, Martinelli’s value crashes next season.”
In response to a fan wanting to dismiss the idea of selling the winger, a fellow follower of Arsenal said:
“Sorry but I disagree – martinelli isn’t going to hit another level and we need a high profile player that’s a level above martinelli?… if we can get 3 wingers in this summer then we should do that as well as a striker, let’s be real here the money is there too spend so why not.”
Martinelli transfer discussion is difficult
As expected, fans can’t make up their mind about whether Arsenal should sell Martinelli, and for good reason.
On one hand, the Brazil international’s value will continue to fall if Arsenal bring in competition that sees his game time reduced.
On the other hand, Martinelli is a loyal servant to Arsenal who is capable of producing golden moments when it matters most.
The theme from the reaction of fans hangs on two things: the sale price and whether Arsenal would sufficiently replenish the left side if the 24-year-old were to leave.
Given how loved Martinelli is at Arsenal, by fans and those at the club, it would be a real shock to see the Brazilian leave so early into his career, but stranger things have happened in football.
